The Office of Emergency Planning and Recovery is responsible for the oversight and coordination of emergency management and planning activities (including the central and unit emergency planning processes). This mission is accomplished by:
- providing central coordination of emergency planning & management activities;
- overseeing the central and college/unit emergency planning processes, and conducting periodic reviews;
- identifying methods for coordinating communications between central and local colleges/units during emergencies;
- ensuring that appropriate emergency training is provided to campus groups and that annual University-wide emergency training is conducted;
- working with appropriate campus constituencies to proactively plan for more coordinated preventive and emergency response measures;
- when necessary, reviewing and recommending changes regarding emergency operations policies and procedures to the Cornell Emergency Management Committee (CEMC), and,
- providing staff and coordination support to the CEMC, and the incident commander in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergency incidents.
